Social Distancing Together: Staying Connected + Supporting Each Other Online

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

Social distancing got you feeling disconnected?

Whether your business is brick and mortar, online, or a combination of the two, the uncertainty of the current situation may have you feeling really concerned about your business and your community.

We hear you. So, we’ve put together 5 strategies you can use right now to connect with your customers, stay close to your community, and grow your business.

Let's dive in together!

Strategy 1: Use This Time to Batch Social Content

The current situation can mean that you have a chance to sit down and batch some seriously awesome social media content. Having trouble getting started? Think about the ways you can reach your current audience or speak to the challenges they’re facing right now.

Think about how many posts you want to make each week, decide what topics you want to cover, and then get to work.

Allow yourself to use the space you have right now to get creative and to focus on engagement and connection: That's exactly what we’re all craving right now. Right?

Bonus: Setting aside time to batch your writing can free up your time later when things pick up again and you begin to get back to "business as usual".

Strategy 2: Engage With Your Audience Regularly Especially With Live Video

So many people are working from home right now and that means it’s the perfect time to cultivate and grow your audience.

This is the time to go live. Let your people know when you're doing it (we all love predictability right now) and what you’ll be doing when you do.

Looking for other ways to get g your audience engaged?

Keep your stories going and add to your feed regularly to keep your audience engaged.

And speaking of keeping them engaged...

Strategy 3: Add Value by Providing Your Community Some Support in a Challenging Time

What do your followers, clients, and customers want right now?

Do they want to move their bodies?

To shop?

To laugh?

To create?

To learn?

To connect with others?

You may already have an idea of what they need.

Or you may want to ask them.

But getting an honest perspective on the challenges your community is facing and how your product or service can help will go a long way.

Once you know what you can offer and what your favorite people need, it’s time to give them something amazing.

How can you offer some support to your customers and community?

Are you going to do live Q & A’s?

Offer a free mini-training?

Share a complimentary ebook on a relevant topic?

Whatever you decide to do, be sure you’re engaging with your community, creating connections, and adding value right now.

You’ll feel good about being this awesome resource and your followers and customers will remember your support and kindness when you’re back to your regularly scheduled program.

This means you really can make a difference in your customers’ lives, right now and in the future.

Strategy 4: Use This Time to Create New Offers or Start Your Next Project

So you’re going live, you’re batching content, and now you can set aside some time to think about the bigger picture.

So, what’s your next best step?

If you’re used to working in an office or without the distractions you’re dealing with right now, your next best step might be to clarify your current working schedule and coordinate your schedule with anyone else who’s at home with you.

Even if you’ve always worked from home, it can be challenging to know what the next step should be when faced with so much uncertainty.

But when you decide what your next best step is, you can focus on making it happen.

Do you want to design a freebie for your email list? Focus on creating a new product?

Do you need to launch your website or design your newest offer?

Rather than being overwhelmed by the worries that uncertainty can bring, decide what you’re going to do and clarify the next steps you’re going to take to get there.

Take it one step at a time and be sure you give yourself credit for the progress you're making.

Strategy 5: Stay Connected to Your Community Even While Practicing Social Distancing

Our last tip is to stay connected to your community.

Social distancing is necessary to keep everyone safe right now.

But you can still get the support you need for your personal and professional life by reaching out to your community.

Join virtual meet-ups, schedule Facetime calls with friends, hop into the Babes Slack channels, join relevant Facebook groups, and watch other Babes' live videos on social media when you can.

These little acts of connecting can help you to feel grounded and supported as we navigate this current challenge together.
